Empire Development Fellowship

Learn the business of development from the ground up.

The Empire Development Fellowship is an 8-week immersive program within Build Estate School designed to equip women with practical knowledge in construction, land development, planning, permitting, and project management.

Led by Mom the Builder®, this fellowship introduces participants to the real-world process behind how projects move from land to livable space.

Applications are now open for the Founding Cohort.

This is more than a class.

The Empire Development Fellowship was created for women who want to better understand the built environment and gain real exposure to the systems, language, and decision-making that shape successful development projects.

Through guided instruction, collaborative learning, and real-world case studies, fellows will learn how to navigate the moving parts of development with greater clarity and confidence.

Whether you are coming from real estate, entrepreneurship, project support, brokerage, or simply a deep interest in development, this fellowship is designed to help you understand what it takes to move a project from concept to completion.

What You’ll Learn

During this 8-week fellowship, fellows will be introduced to the fundamentals of:

  • Land selection and site potential
  • Zoning, planning, and UDO navigation
  • Entitlements and approvals
  • Property division and land strategy
  • Permitting and development coordination
  • Construction process overview
  • Project management fundamentals
  • The roles, systems, and professionals involved in development

The Fellowship Promise

The Empire Development Fellowship is built on a commitment to equip women with the knowledge, perspective, and practical insight needed to confidently participate in the fields of construction, land development, planning, and project management.

As a Fellow, you will gain a clear understanding of how development projects move from land to livable space—from evaluating property and navigating planning regulations to understanding permitting, coordinating professionals, and managing the construction process.

Through guided instruction, real-world case studies, and collaborative learning, the fellowship provides access to the systems, language, and decision-making frameworks that shape successful development projects. Fellows will develop the confidence to ask the right questions, understand the moving parts of complex projects, and identify opportunities within the built environment.

Upon completion, fellows become part of the Empire Circle, a collaborative community within the Entry to Empire ecosystem committed to continued growth, partnership, and leadership in development and construction.
